Getting Around in Paris:

There is a mobile application specifically designed to plan and track your journeys live. It’s called Citymapper, and it’s an application where you can enter your departure and arrival points, and the application will suggest a route, guiding you to each stop and estimating the cost of the journey. It’s a really useful application for your travels in Paris and will prevent you from getting lost!

The best way to get around Paris is by public transport. The Parisian public transport network easily serves the whole city and its suburbs. For this, different means are possible:

  • The metro is the easiest, fastest and cheapest way to get around Paris. Its service starts every day around 6am and ends around 12.45am. You can buy your metro ticket for 1.90€ and they are available from the machines in the stations. https://www.ratp.fr/plans-lignes
  • RER : serves Paris and its region (Ile-de-France), purchases are also made via automatic machines. https://www.ratp.fr/plan-rer
  • Bus : The best way to discover Paris, they run through the centre of the city, along the banks of the Seine and through the historic districts. The stops are distinguished by glass shelters or simple posts with the line number written on them. Remember to get on at the front and off at the back, and don’t forget to punch your ticket! https://www.ratp.fr/plan-bus
