IMI is also working on a study in collaboration with Scripps Center for Dental Care and their free dental clinic in East San Diego. Research shows that virtual reality is effective in distracting patients from pain during medical procedures. The current project is working towards developing a virtual reality program that distracts children from anxiety and pain experienced during dental work. Other programs will be implemented to show how distraction can be used to augment relaxation during prolonged procedures.
